there a few changes to the league the biggest being that EVERY frame must start with a lag for break. So no more alternate breaks.
I will soon put a full list of changes that have been implemented after the AGM on Sunday 5th

WALES U16 EUROPEAN CHAMPIONS |
|
congrats to the welsh u16s who beat a strong england side in the european final 17-14.
also a big well done to Jake Bayliss (llanerch B) after only playing pool for less than a year, not only qualified to play for wales but was part of the winnning team in his first event!!.

Builth League Finals Night |
|
 Last night (28th sept 2008) saw the finals night of Builth league being played in the White Hart.
The matches started at roughly 2:30pm with the doubles final between
Dave Morgan + Justin Bishop VS Lee Jarvis + Justin Lewis.
was a good match but the local team lee and Justin kept 1 frame ahead from the start and finally won the match 4-2 after a couple of simple mistakes in the final frame from Dave and Justin.
Next up saw Dave Morgan V Martyn Davies, this was a chance for Dave to make it 2 years running winning the Builth singles and Dave took the chance in comfortable fashion. All the way through Dave was in charge and Martyn just didn’t have the replies and Dave ran out the victor 4-0! A very strong year for Dave in the singles after only dropping 1 frame in all his singles matches!!
Next saw the Team cup final, and this was always going to be a great match with 2nd and 3rd from the league.
Butcher boys V B cups
The b cups started off well with wins from Lee Lello and lee Jarvis but then the butchers took the last 3 in the first session to make it 3-2
But the b cups weren’t going to give up and big wins from Lee Lello and Jason saw the b cups go in to the lead again 4-3. the butchers now needed all 3 remaining or at least 2 to take it to a draw, Jan and Sam saw the 2 needed and now down to the VERY last frame with scores 5-4 to the butchers Wayne Jones was playing lee Jarvis. After a tense couple of moments lee Jarvis took the final frame to force a deciding doubles match.
Players picked for this were
Wayne + Sam VS Justin + Lee
Justin and lee had confidence on there side after winning the doubles final earlier. But Wayne's experience and Sam’s cool composure saw them take the very last frame and the title!!

2008-2009 NEW SEASON AGM |
|
 i will be holding a agm in the legion on the 5th of oct (week b4 the season starts) at the agm team captains will eb able to ask any questions or put any ideas fwd.
also the deadline for teams is this day and so hopfully i will be able to make some fixtures up from that ready to tell who at least who the first matches are against with a full fixture list ready the next day to be handed out the first week.
the agm will be held the same day as the legion singles comp which starts at 12midday so the agm will start at 8pm after the comp has finished
i would like ALL team captians tehre at least so please contact me if you cant come

Builth Finals Night 2008 |
|
 Finally a date has been arranged for Builth leagues finals night.
Sunday 28th Sept 2008 will be when this year winners will be named and crowned champions for 2008.
The day starts at 230pm in the White Hart.
First up will be the singles final which sees last year’s winner looking to retain the title
Dave Morgan V Martyn Davies
Then up will any the doubles final
Lee Jarvis/Justin Lewis “B Cups” V (To be confirmed)
The to be confirmed will be decided b4 the night
And then last but not least will the be cup final between
Lamb “B Cups” v Erwood “Butcher Men”
Both these teams played well this year and it will be a close one.
After the final the trophies will be handed out to the winners which will include the league winners the LAUGHING DOG "Untouchables"
Will be a good day so why not pop along and see the best pool players in the Builth area.

ROYAL BRITISH LEGION OPEN II |
|
 The annual start of season comp is back!!!
This year it will be held at the legion in Llandrindod, on the newly clothed tables, the tables were installed last year but have had new cloths ready for the new season and now’s your chance to see how the fast speed cloths play.
The comp will be on the 5th October will start taking entries at 12 noon and the draw will be done at 1pm.
Entry is £3 will all money in being paid out, first prize will be dependant on number of entries and whether any sponsor money can be found.
This is great way to get your team together b4 the new season starts and also get a little match practice in.
LAST YEARS WINNER DAVE MORGAN WHO CAN WIN THIS YEAR!!!

South Powys A |

South Powys A County Team
On Sunday 10th aug south Powys A played Swansea Blackjacks. This was the return leg with south Powys playing at home, last time saw a lot of banter and this match had even more. Ex county legend, Jan turned up to give her support to the dismay of a couple of the blackjacks but Jan kept edging the south Powys boys on,
The first couple of sessions were tight with south Powys winning the first 5-4 then losing the 2nd 5-4. the 3rd session started off badly for south Powys see them go 3-0 down. But even with Dave Morgan (man of the match at the last fixture) being dropped saw the regular players pull though and take the session 5-4.
Going in to the last session it was any ones match with only 1 point in it. To help things along the first 3 games went the way of south Powys with Justin Bishop, Leon Griffiths and Ed Lewis winning. This spured the rest of the team on and with wins also from Dave Morgan, Paul Robinson and Phil Davies saw south Powys take the session 6-3 and the Match 20-16

FINALS NIGHT 2008 |

Well last Sunday saw the completion of the Llandrindod pool league with the Finals night being held at the Ridgebourne.
There were 3 finals to be played with another to play mid week (mixed)
First up starting at 5.30pm were the Triples.
TRIPLES
Matt, Jake and Lee 2 VS 4 Nev, Sav and Ed
This was a long game and had some VERY tactical matches. First game went to the Nev, Sav and Ed, and then the young boys took the 2nd. In the 3rd a massive finish by Ed Lewis saw the "experienced" team take the lead and also the next one making it 3-1. Matt Jake and lee weren’t going to give up though and made it 2-3 and in the next they looked good to take the match to a decider. but some very good safety play by Nev, Sav and Ed saw Lee left with a huge pressure shot and with no option but to take it on, he failed to pot it leaving the black over the bag for NEV SAV AND ED
RUMOURS NIGHT CLUB DOUBLES
Mike Davies + Nev Pritchard 4 VS 1 Paul Savage + Gareth Bowen
Next match on the very tight table was Mike + Nev VS Sav + Gaz
Gaz was originally not signed up to the doubles but after Dave Morgan could not make the first round of the doubles comp, Gareth Bowen (Gaz) stood up and proved to be a strong player helping Paul Savage get to the final. And in fact Gaz took out a very nice finish in the first game, taking the white off 3 cushions round the back of another ball to land perfect on the black. but it was down hill from there, mike took a nice black to make it 1-1 then a scrappy frame saw EVERY player get a shot on the black only for Nev to pot it to make it 2-1, next 2 games went quick and Mike and Nev took the match 4-1
PHOENIX HAIR STUDIO SINGLES
Mike Davies 5-3 Nev Pritchard
At roughly 930pm the highlight of the match started the Phoenix Hair Studio Singles Finals 2008.
this had the makings of a great match with Nev last years runner up, looking to go one better, and Mike Davies looking to take his first singles title and also this years player of the season.
by now the both players and been there a long time, with Nev having played in EVERY event that night. this showed in the first game with Mike missing a straight forward black and Nev took the first game. But Mike got back in to the swing of things with a very good clearance after Nev left them open. Mike took the next game again after Nev failed a clearance attempt.
now at 2-1 mike was looking to pull away while Nev was looking to tighten the game up, which he done and made it 2-2. Mike then pinched the 5th frame to make it 3-2 to mike. Next match mike gave away 2 shots which saw Nev take his chances this time with a great finish. to level the game at 3-3. both players seemed to struggling now but it was mike who pulled things together first with a good finish to make it 4-3 and then with 2 very nice doubles on the last ball and the black Mike took the title PHOENIX HAIR STUDIO SINGLES CHAMPION 2008.
